Installing to a dedicated or rented server

I have FTP access to my server and I'm installing through FTP. (Here's a video tutorial.)
I have a web control panel to my server and I am installing through a web control panel.
I run a dedicated server on my local Windows workstation and am installing to a local dedicated server.
I run a dedicated server on a linux machine and am installing to a linux server via command line access.
